Full-service law firm JMW Solicitors has hired two further partners in its fast-growing property litigation team in London.

Priya Sejpal — joining from Clyde & Co — has a wealth of experience in the property litigation field.

She has worked with landlords of all sizes, helping them to deal with a multitude of issues involving tenancies disputes, high-value insolvencies, court of appeals, and construction arbitration.

Matthew Hearsum has joined from Morr & Co, where he led the property disputes team advising on restrictive covenants, easements, rights to light, boundary disputes, residential leasehold enfranchisement, and commercial lease renewals.

He also helped people extend their leases, purchase freeholds, and acquire the right to manage their properties.

The company was founded in Manchester over four decades ago and opened its London office in 2019, growing from seven to over 165 staff in just over four years.

This has been mirrored in the property litigation team which has grown from two members of staff three years ago to 13 by the end of 2022.

David Smith, head of property litigation at JMW, commented: “Priya and Matthew joining is an exciting moment for us in London.

“Priya’s experience working on high-profile cases will prove a great asset to our fast-expanding team, where she can utilise her tactical awareness, negotiation skills and strategic insight to help our clients successfully navigate the plethora of challenges on the horizon.

“Matthew brings a rare set of skills and expertise to the firm, in particular helping individuals solve their property problems relating to party walls, basement extensions, rights of way, and restrictive covenants.”
